Metromedia Fiber Network Names Dr. Charlotte G. Denenberg Vice President and Chief Technology Officer.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 1999--Metromedia Fiber Network, Inc. (NASDAQ:MFNX), a provider of dedicated fiber optic networks within major metropolitan areas, today announced the appointment of Dr. Charlotte G. Denenberg as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer.

Dr. Denenberg is charged with delivering the high-speed, high-bandwidth intra-city optical networks fundamental to Metromedia Fiber Network's business strategy. In addition, she is responsible for planning the company's network evolution and directing its engineering, operations and network planning functions. She will report directly to Howard Finkelstein, President and Chief Operating Officer of Metromedia Fiber Network.

Dr. Denenberg has over 25 years of telecommunications industry experience. Prior to joining Metromedia Fiber Network, she worked for Southern New England Telephone Company (SNET) for 11 years, most recently as Vice-President - Network Technology and Chief Technology Officer. Responsible for planning SNET's network evolution, she oversaw all network-related technology assessment, and directed the planning for SNET's network and its associated support systems.

Previously, Dr. Denenberg held various leadership positions at ITT Corporation including Director of Technology Evaluation and Support. Prior to that, she spent four years with the former AT&T Bell Labs, now part of Lucent Technologies.

Throughout her career, Dr. Denenberg has served on various corporate, industry and community boards including SNET Cellular, Junior Achievement and the Science Center of Connecticut. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors of the University of New Haven and chairs its Distance Learning Committee. She is also a member of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) and is a founding member of the Connecticut Technology Council.

Recognizing her leadership role in broadband initiatives, Telephony magazine awarded her with its Fiber-in-the-Loop Network Design and Deployment Award in 1994.

Dr. Denenberg earned her doctorate and masters degrees in Mathematics at the Illinois Institute of Technology and holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Northwestern University.

Dr. Denenberg is a resident of Trumbull, Connecticut.
