I often work in with a team to make progress that would be difficult, if not impossible, to do by myself. Since much of my work involves innovation, it can and has resulted in patents. These patents then have multiple inventors. On my resume it says “20 patents”. These same patents are on the resumes of those that worked with me to produce the results. Each of us gets “credit” for each of these inventions. My results are not diminished by sharing the credit for work done together.
I have also worked with individuals that refuse to share credit, but seldom more than once. These individuals are not team players. Michael Jordan has many NBA championship rings, but so do his teammates.
